Frequently Asked Questions
Mould Remediation
Does your treatment actually remediate and remove mould?
Yes, it does. Here MSDS - MR MOULD is an independent mould testing lab report on the performance of our Mr Mould product. Our specific blend of essential oils rapidly affects a 100% remediation of the entire spectrum of toxic mould.
What is included in your Mould Remediation Services?
Our remediation process includes:
- Step 1: Inspection and Assessment. We begin with a comprehensive property inspection to identify mould growth and determine the extent of the problem, allowing us to tailor our approach to your specific needs.
- Step 2: Spore control. We utilize the highest-rated H14 HEPA filtration vacuum cleaners on the market to capture even the smallest mould spores.
- Step 3: Natural Remediation. Our eco-friendly cleaning products effectively remove mould without harmful chemicals. These methods are safe for your family and pets while ensuring thorough mould elimination.
- Step 4: Spore Fogging. We use our natural fogging formula to disperse a mist of essential oils across contaminated areas, effectively eliminating airborne mould spores.
What is a HEPA Vacuum?
- A HEPA vacuum is a vacuum cleaner with a certified High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter. For a vacuum to be a "true" HEPA vacuum, the entire unit, including the motor and casing, must be sealed to ensure no air can bypass the filter. The filter itself is designed to capture at least 99.97% of airborne particles that are 0.3 microns or larger.
- It functions as a critical tool for safely removing mould spores and other particulate matter, such as dust, pollen, and bacteria, from surfaces. Regular vacuum cleaners can agitate mould and simply blow the microscopic spores back into the air, causing them to spread and recontaminate an area. The sealed HEPA system prevents this cross-contamination.
What is Fogging?
Mould fogging is a professional treatment that uses a machine to disperse a fine mist of our Essential Oil Formula throughout an indoor space. The goal is to kill airborne mould spores and other microorganisms that can spread contamination. Fogging is a supplemental step in a comprehensive mould remediation plan.
Do you have to move out of the home or the office while we are working?
As we include fogging in every service we recommend the house be vacated for 2 hours. This is a 100% natural process with Essential Oils but when initially done it is quite a strong smell and can irritate the eyes.
How long does your mould treatments last?
The Essential Shield surface treatment leaves a totally natural, micro-fine, nonvisible, moisture-retardant coating on the treated surfaces. This microfine defensive coating assists in retarding the return of mould. As to how long the Essential Shield treatments will last, this is as variable as the wide diversity of properties, the environments they are located in, and their current and ongoing state of repair!
In short, we have properties that we have treated well over 12 months ago with no return of the mould. The bottom line is that we fully back our work and products. If there is a “reasonably based” issue with the work we have undertaken for a client within the first 6 months we will return and deal with it.
Do you provide Warranty?
Yes we provide a 6 month warranty pending external environmental factors which may result in further mould growth.
Do you offer mould testing and reports?
No, our business is mould remediation, prevention and restoration. We are however delighted to refer you to a fully certified Mould Testing Laboratory for such services.
Do you provide remediation for external surfaces?
Yes, however we do not use our Mr Mould Product for this. For external services we use Pestrol Mould Magic.
This formula is not 100% Natural but it is still non-toxic, biodegradable and is pet-safe.
Will there be Mould stains remaining
In some cases Mould Stains will remain. We can ensure the mould spores have been killed and then highly recommend painting over them with a Mould Blocking paint. We are also able to provide this service
Do you find the source of the Mould?
Where there’s mould, there’s moisture. We have a state of the art moisture and humidity reader, which helps identify the source of the moisture. This may be a leak or ventilation issue. A vital part of our service is to carefully assess and advise you as to what is actually causing the mould infestation. As part of our on-site service, we provide advice as to the appropriate measures that should be taken, outside the scope of our service capacities to remedy the causes of mould?
What about airborne particles?
You might already know that essential oils are often diffused using essential oil burners and diffusers. Once we apply our essential oil-powered mould treatments to surfaces in your home, these surfaces become diffusers themselves. The vapour released helps combat airborne toxic mould.
This vapour phase activity also works as an excellent deodoriser, eliminating that unpleasant musty mould and mildew odour. You can choose to purchase a bottle of Essential Shield oil for continued use in your home.

Restoration
What’s the difference between mould that requires remediation and restoration?
Great question. Essential shield values your business, that’s why we take the utmost care in assessing wether a job requires remediation or restoration. Most jobs require a simple remediation, our tried and tested service that has been offered for nearly two decades. Whilst some staining can remain, the mould is taken care of. However in some cases, usually when water damage meets mould, the job may require restoration, which includes replacing gyprock and repainting. We handle all this for you.
What Restoration services do you provide?
We handle comprehensive water extraction, structural drying, mould remediation, and the full repair/reconstruction of your property. We are professionals who ensure the moisture is gone and your home is fully restored to its pre-loss condition.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency services?
No. We do not provide 24/7 emergency services. If you have an active leak or a flood that requires immediate response outside of business hours, please contact a dedicated 24-hour emergency mitigation company first. We are available during standard business hours for scheduled water removal, drying, and full restoration services.
If I have standing water, can you remove it?
Yes.- We perform professional water extraction using industrial-grade equipment to remove standing water from floors and carpets. However, this is done during our regular business hours and must be scheduled.
Why is structural drying necessary?
After water is removed, moisture remains trapped in porous materials like drywall, subfloors, and wood framing. We use specialized air movers and dehumidifiers to completely dry these materials. Failing to dry the structure correctly leads to permanent damage, weakening, and guaranteed mould growth.
How long does the structural drying process take?
Drying time is determined by humidity levels, air temperature, and the amount of moisture absorbed by the materials. Typically, the drying phase takes 3 to 5 days of continuous equipment operation and monitoring.
How long will the total restoration project take?
The total time depends on the extent of the damage. The initial drying takes days, while the reconstruction and repair phase (new flooring, walls, painting) can take from two weeks to several months. We will provide a detailed timeline after our initial assessment.
Do you work with insurance companies?
Yes. We frequently work with all major insurance providers. We handle the necessary documentation, scope of work submissions, and direct billing to help streamline your claim.
Can you save my water-damaged materials (carpet, wood floors)?
No. We do not cover materials. With prompt drying and cleaning, some carpets and solid wood floors can be restored. However, materials with heavy contamination (sewage) or items that have been wet for too long often require removal and replacement to prevent health issues

What cleaning services do you provide?
- Bond Cleans and End of Lease Cleans.
- External Pressure Washing and House Washing
How much does a bond clean cost?

Is the quote fixed?

Does the property need to be empty?
Yes. The property must be completely vacant of all belongings, furniture, and rubbish so our team can access and clean all surfaces. Except if furnished of course.
Pressure Washing and House Cleaning
What is the difference between pressure washing and soft washing?
- Pressure Washing: Uses high-pressure water to clean durable surfaces like concrete, brick, and pavers, effectively removing oil, rust, and ground-in dirt.
- Soft Washing: Uses low pressure combined with specialized, eco-friendly cleaning solutions. This technique is used on delicate surfaces like house siding, stucco, and roofs to safely kill and remove mould and algae without causing damage.
Will high-pressure water damage my property?
No. Our trained technicians use different pressure settings and techniques (including soft washing) tailored to each specific surface. We never use high pressure on vulnerable areas like paintwork, window seals, or roofing, ensuring your home is cleaned safely.
Are your chemicals safe for my plants and pets?
Yes. We use professional, biodegradable, and environmentally safe cleaning solutions. We also take precautions, such as pre-wetting plants and surrounding areas, to protect all landscaping from the cleaning runoff.
How often should I have my home pressure washed?
We generally recommend cleaning your exterior surfaces once per year. Regular washing prevents the long-term buildup of mould and grime, which can extend the lifespan of your paint and materials.

What is Mr Mould?
Mr Mould is a powerful Natural Mould Remover, that is lab tested to kill mould spores. It uses a combination of five key essential oils and a coconut surfectant. It also acts as a deodoriser leaving your home smelling fresh and getting rid of that musty mould smell. It contains no bleach, chlorine, or petrochemical ingredients.
Are these natural products effective?
Yes
What's the difference between Mr Mould and Naturamax?
Naturamax harnesses the full cleaning potential of Mr Mould while utilizing only half the amount of Essential Oils. Its purpose is to thoroughly clean and sanitize, rather than solely addressing mould remediation.
Is it safe around pets?
It is, however if you engage our remediation service to fog your home, just remember to put your pets water away.
Why is Mr Mould so effective?
Mr Mould harnesses the powerful unique blend of five therapeutic grade essential oils to create the time-proven perfect “natural “storm against mould and mildew. The cleaning component of the product is derived from coconut – the residual coating left on the surface creates somewhat of a moisture barrier that assists in retarding the return of mould.
Where can I use these products?
Almost any surface, walls/ceilings, leather – shoes, fabrics/furniture/timber furniture, cane items, but avoid highly polished surfaces, you can even put ¼ of a cup in with the washing machine to deal with fabrics and clothing. Read this blog for more information.
Does bleach kill mould?
No, all bleach does is bleach - it white’s it out so it cannot be seen.
Bleach (sodium hypochlorite): oxidises and discolours the mould, so it looks gone. But on porous surfaces (like grout, render, concrete, or terracotta), bleach often only kills surface mould — the roots (hyphae) can remain alive underneath. Result: it grows back after a few weeks, especially in damp or shaded spots. So, bleach can kill mould — but it’s not a lasting solution unless it penetrates deep enough or you follow up with a biocide like Mr Mould.
Are your natural cleaning products safe for children and pets?
Good enough for you, is good enough for your pets. Our products are 100% Natural. All we ask is you put your pup, kitty, birdy or rabbits water bowl away if spraying nearby or engaging essential shield for a natural mould spore fog. We don’t want them getting angry at you for their water tasting funny!
Will the products damage the plants or lawns on my property?
When developing our products, a key question arose: do they have any adverse effects on plants and lawns? The answer is no. We have extensively applied the product to a wide variety of plants and lawns without ever observing any negative impact.
Similarly, the ingredients in our products are designed to prevent runoff into natural waterways. We also frequently address concerns about the product's potential impact on environmentally based sewage systems.
