The wet season in Australia is expected to increase mould. How can you reduce health risks?

We know that mould can trigger health issues in some people depending on the type of mould and circumstance, so how do I reduce the risk of mould?

There are many activities you do at home that generate excess moisture indoors. The most obvious is the bathroom.

Do you have children that leave the bathroom looking like they had a shower outside the shower and leave wet towels on the floor in their room? Did they use the exhaust fan while showering? Did they open a window?

If you have children, ask the question, what is mould?

Reducing the amount of moisture is the best way to control mould growth. When is the last time you took a good look at your drainage and plumbing from the roof to the floor? Are runoffs from gardens working efficiently?

When painting, add an anti-mould solution to the paint to help slow down mould growth. Ask your painter or hardware supplier for details.

Love plants? Plants hold in moisture and promote mould growth. Keep distance between your plants and walls.

Fresh air is priceless! Open your windows when you can or turn on a slow-turning fan. Let the sun in and open the curtains and blinds. Let there be light!

If you have exhaust fans, use them. Make sure the exhaust is not causing issues at the end of it.

Mould feeds on soap scum so wash down shower walls after each use. High humidity can cause condensation. Humidifiers with filters are great or using moisture absorbers in wardrobes helps.

Air Conditioners should be serviced and use the raindrops icon to remove moisture from the air. Make sure materials, clothes, shoes, and surfaces stay dry and clean as much as possible.

The best way to stop mould from growing is to let in fresh air and light, clean regularly and control moisture in your home. Our range of natural cleaning products helps you maintain a healthy home.
